JAG COMMUNITY OUTREACH/TRANSITION COORDINATOR

Vincennes University is seeking applications for a JAG Community Outreach/Transition Coordinator.   This is a full time, support staff position with full benefits in Evansville, Indiana. 

SUMMARY: The Community Outreach/Transition Coordinator acts as liaison between the school and the community outside the school in the development of internship opportunities (paid and unpaid work experiences) for students in the JAG program and development and identification of mentors for JAG students. Additionally responsibilities include   building relationships, systems and programs to ensure the college acceptance and matriculation of graduates from the high schools that offer JAG programming to college and other post-secondary programs.
 
The Coordinator works with the school principal, teachers, students, alumni and their families, and the WorkOne Center staff to identify internship possibilities for students; and keeps track of workplace resources for the entire school, coordinates systems of communication, will provide support for as these students transition from high school to college and/or other post-secondary opportunities throughout the one year of follow-up, and is responsible for data collection concerning workplace learning. This is for students both in school and in the follow-up year after graduation.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, but are not limited to:
 
· Demonstrate commitment to students by assisting them and their families through: the college application process, find employment and mentorship opportunities and providing on-going support during the one year of follow-up
· Provides one-on-one support to students throughout the college preparation process (which includes but is not limited to college search, application, ACT/SAT testing, financial aid and the transition process).
· Conducts workshops on essay writing, interviewing skills, financial aid, etc.
· Creates summer planning activities for juniors entering their senior year, collect and maintain student-created files consisting of college application forms, SAT/ACT registration forms and pin numbers, fee waiver forms, FAFSA forms and the materials needed from parents to complete the forms, essay material, scholarship notification and opportunities and reference documents.
· Work with school guidance counselors to coordinate the college preparation testing for all students (ACT and/or SAT) including fee waivers.
· Build relationships and partner with college admission and guidance counselors to create open lines of communication and sharing of information that extends through the year of follow-up for each student
· Coordinate college fairs, site visits, workshops, etc. with the assistance/input of teachers, school principals and guidance counselors, etc.
· Presents college preparatory activities to the JAG classes and develops college preparatory activities to be offered by college admission counselors, or other post-secondary options such as trade schools, training programs and the military
· Provides current information about JAG or other relevant information through materials, dates/facts, availability of scholarships, etc. to teachers and alumni.
· Maintain relationships with alumni through visits, phone contact and on going programming.
· Create and maintain outreach efforts to JAG alumni
· Maintain online alumni database.
· Seeks out internship, apprenticeship, scholarships and career opportunities for JAG alumni.
· Provide on-going support to JAG alums post-high school (e.g. navigating college, career planning, etc.)
· Provide Specialist with data monthly to be included in the e-NDMS data entry system.
· Creates peer-led support groups consisting of the JAG alumni at each post-secondary institution
 
· Mentor and employment and internship development/coordination by Working with JAG Specialist

· Develops methods for sharing materials and systems between the schools about employment or internship opportunities

· Collects, analyzes and reports on mentor assessments

· Develops mentor relationships/contacts through attending networking events
· Provides JAG Specialist with internship, employment and mentor data monthly to be included in the e-NDMS data entry system.

 CLERK - LENDING SERVICES

Vincennes University is seeking applications for a Clerk in the SHAKE LEARNING RESOURCES CENTER, Lending Services. This is a part time support staff position with no benefits. The Shake Learning Resources Center Clerk, reports directly to the Librarian, Lending Services.  If the Librarian, Lending Services, is absent for a lengthy period of time, one of the other librarians will serve as a temporary liaison and supervising officer. Some supervision may also come from the Assistants, Lending Services. General supervision is exercised by the Dean, Shake Learning Resources Center.

Staff members in the Lending Services Department should expect to work in a cooperative team environment. Innovative ideas and suggestions to improve procedures are encouraged to be discussed with the LS Librarian.  

Hours

Since the library is open almost 100 hours per week, Part- time Lending Services staff are often scheduled to assist full-time staff during evening and weekend hours, sometimes until midnight. Part-time staff members are often called upon to also assist during times of staff illness or vacations. A regular schedule is set every semester but extra hours may be scheduled as needed.   

Duties include:
•Checking in and checking out library items.
•Answering the telephone.
•May assist in checking shelves for overdues and then mailing overdues.
•Performs daily tasks such as straightening the desk area, putting reserves in order, dusting, adding paper to machines, etc.
•May have specific assignments, such as, processing reserve items or assisting with daily ILL transactions.
•In the absence of the LS Assistants, may advise student workers of tasks needing to be done.
 •Assists patrons in the use of such SLRC equipment as the photocopiers and printers.
•Assists patrons in directional information but directs reference questions to the Librarians.
•Will assume other duties as assigned by the Lending Services Librarian and/or the Dean, SLRC.
