Professor Adkins is a native of Knox County, Indiana, hailing originally from Bicknell. He graduated from Vincennes University in 2009 with a degree in Special Education Mild Intervention. He worked in K-12 public education as a special education teacher for 12 years, and views education as an essential resource that provides pathways for students to grow and work toward their best possible self in the future. He has taught students with Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional Behavioral Disorders, Other Health Impairments such as ADHD, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Communication Disorders, Visual Impairments, Autism, and Developmental Delays. He has worked with disabilities ranging from Mild or Moderate to Severe. He has taught and co-taught a wide range of subjects including language arts, social studies, math, and science. Professor Adkins strongly believe that education is the most crucial field that an individual can choose to enter into. He is grateful to be able to give back to Vincennes University where his journey into an education career began, as well as the surrounding community and schools.
