cap career advancement partnership

Vincennes University Jasper is proud to partner with local manufacturing companies in this major workforce development initiative – the Career Advancement Partnership (CAP). The partnership enhances the associate degree program in technical maintenance by providing students a paid internship while enrolled at VUJ full-time. Graduates of this program are in high demand locally and across Indiana.

The Career Advancement Partnership (CAP) program includes a two-year degree in Electronics Technology that combines cutting-edge curriculum, paid work experience, along with learning technical skills which are highly sought by leading manufacturing partners.

mission

To prepare the skilled technicians needed to program and maintain advanced technologies being adopted to stay competitive in the global economy.

Students selected for this two-year program will gain:

  • An Associate in Science Career-Technical degree.
  • Two years of paid work experience (part-time).
  • Training in advanced technologies.
  • Mentoring by experienced technicians.
  • Preference for full-time employment.
  • Financial support for tuition & fees.

What Makes the CAP Program Different?
Industrial Maintenance skills are highly sought by many manufacturers. CAP allows students to receive hands-on experience in the classroom as well as a mentored, hands-on experience in the manufacturing environment. Students earn wages while working during the internship. With planning, the wages earned could cover the cost of tuition and books. The potential for grants and financial aid are based on your FAFSA application.

How It Works
Students work 2 days a week at a manufacturing partner and attend classes 3 days a week at the Vincennes University Jasper. Courses will include exposure to CNC Programming and Operation, Manufacturing Processes, Introduction to Robotics and Automation, Electronics for Automation, and Beginning CAD. Students completing the internship will earn an Associate’s Degree from Vincennes University Jasper. After graduation, your two year Associate’s Degree can be expanded to a four year Bachelor’s Degree in fields such as engineering, technology, or business. Some manufacturing partners even financially support the completion of a four year degree.

Industry partners in the CAP program include:

  • Best Home Furnishings
  • Indiana Furniture Industries
  • Jasper Engines and Transmissions
  • Kimball Electronics
  • Kimball International
  • MasterBrand Cabinets
  • Farbest Foods
