Vincennes University music grad will be featured in guest recital

VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University Department of Music will present a Guest
Recital featuring guitarist and VU alumnus Joseph Jones on May 2, 7 p.m. (EDT) at
the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center, 20 Red Skelton Boulevard. Highlighting guitar
literature from a variety of styles, the performance is free and the public is invited
to attend.
Jones is a classical guitarist from Indianapolis and graduated from VU with an associate
degree in music in 2014. He holds a baccalaureate degree guitar performance from the
University of Indianapolis and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in classical
guitar performance at Butler University.
Jones has been a VU guest artist on several occasions and has been invited to play
in the orchestra at the Indiana University Guitar Academy Festival. His distinctions
include being a soloist with the Butler Symphony Orchestra. Currently, he is a freelance
guitarist who teaches lessons privately while attending classes to achieve his master’s
degree.
Earlier in the day, at 11 a.m., Jones will present a masterclass for the VU music
students in the Lab Theatre. The public is welcome to attend his presentation.
