What can STUDENTS expect during THEIR time IN THIS PROGRAM?

  • Curriculum: The two-year program caters to students with and without prior drafting experience.
  • Coursework: Students will learn a variety of skills including:
    • Manual drafting
    • Computer-aided drafting and design (CAD)
    • Product design principles
    • Plastic part design
    • Tool design principles
    • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
    • Additive manufacturing and prototyping
    • Reverse engineering
  • Software: The CAD curriculum includes solid and surface modeling with SolidWorks  as well as 2D drafting with AutoCAD.
  • Industry Standards: Students will learn standard engineering office practices and ASME Y-14.5-2018 standards, including the fundamentals of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Hands-on Experience: Students will gain experience using 3D printers, 3D laser scanners and other reverse engineering equipment.
  • Faculty: The program is taught by full-time, industry-experienced faculty who stay current with industry changes.
  • Support: Students are advised and counseled by drafting faculty.
  • Job Placement: The program has an excellent job placement rate with approximately 95% of graduates entering the job market directly after graduation. The remaining students may pursue a bachelor's degree at Vincennes University or another university.
  • Students in this program can expect a comprehensive education in product design and production processes, providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the industry.
