Celebrate Chinese New Year at VU

VINCENNES, Ind. - As China ushers out 2017 as the Year of the Rooster, citizens are readying to welcome 2018 as the Year of the Dog. Vincennes University’s Office of International Student Affairs will host a Chinese New Year Celebration on Feb. 15, 6:30 p.m. (EST), at Green Activities Center and the public is invited to attend.

Tickets cost $5 and must be purchased in advance at the VU Bookstore located in the Beckes Student Union. VU students and employees may receive free tickets by visiting the Student Center and presenting their University ID.

The menu will include spring white rolls with sweet and sour sauce (vegetarian), General Tso’s chicken, pork stir fry, rice noodles with peppers and carrots, steamed white rice, vegetable fried rice with shrimp and egg, steamed mixed vegetables, and Chinese coleslaw.

The program will feature a presentation by VU faculty members who traveled to China in Summer 2017, and a performance on a traditional Chinese instrument, called Erhu.
