College of Technology Open House is Nov. 16

VINCENNES, Ind. - Everyone is invited to the Vincennes University College of Technology Open House on Nov. 16, 5 to 8 p.m. EST. The free event includes laboratory tours, interactive demonstrations, prize drawings, and the chance to meet with faculty and employers.

In addition to prize drawings in each Technology facility, there will be a grand prize drawing from names of those who visit all five Technology facilities during the Open House. Buildings that will be open include the Construction/Surveying Building at 324 W. Red Skelton Blvd., Welding Building at 819 N. Second St., John Deere/Diesel Building at 4259 N. Purdue Road, and the Technology Building and Automotive/Collision Repair Building, both located at 1300 N. Chestnut Street.

"Our goal for the Open House is to make more people aware of the great opportunities our technology programs provide that enable our graduates to pursue a wide variety of attractive careers,” said Ty Freed, dean of the College of Technology. “It’s a fact that employers representing many major corporations are constantly recruiting our students because they know how well they are prepared in our programs.”

VU’s College of Technology programs feature the newest and most sophisticated technology available. Students benefit from experienced faculty, small class size, and hands-on training, which prepare them to gain employment in a wide variety of fields.

The VU College of Technology also provides students with rewarding opportunities to work and learn while in school via partnerships with industry leaders such as Toyota, Subaru, Caterpillar, Heartland Automotive, voestalpine, and others.  These partnerships and training are offered through the Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) Program at Vincennes, Advanced Internship in Manufacturing (AIM) Program at Lafayette, and the Career Advancement Partnership (CAP) Program at Jasper.

College of Technology career paths include Aviation Technology, Electronics Technology, Land Resources and Planning Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Transportation Technology and Welding Technology. With a growing economy, more graduates are required to meet the growing needs of employers who annually come to VU to recruit new employees.
