VINCENNES, Ind. - Former Vincennes University coach Harry Wickens will be inducted into the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Coaches Association Hall of Fame on March 5.

His election to the Hall of Fame is due to his outstanding contributions to the sport.

Wickens helped start the VU swimming and diving program in 1980. The Trailblazers were a powerhouse in his 21 years as coach and produced 21 individual national champions in 37 events at NJCAA national meets and 223 student-athletes earned All-America honors. VU men's and women's teams placed third or better at the national meet 25 times under Wickens. He was named NJCAA National Coach of the Year three times.

Wickens, who was also a physical education instructor, coached the Trailblazers through the 2000-01 season.

For Wickens, the induction is about the student-athletes who were part of VU’s swimming and diving program, not him.

The hall of fame ceremony is part of the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships athlete banquet in Buffalo, New York.
