WHAT: High school students to learn about exciting STEAM careers at Vincennes University summer experience

WHO: Early College high school students from throughout Indiana, VU staff, and VU faculty

DETAILS: The VU Xmester and Techmester programs bring Early College students from throughout Indiana on June 13-16, 2023, to the Vincennes Campus for a four-day residential summer experience to learn about STEAM career paths while experiencing college life. 

The programs offer reporters, photographers, and news crews numerous opportunities to obtain engaging activity stories, photographs, and videos.

Students will engage in hands-on projects in nearly 20 courses, including 3D design and printing; advanced manufacturing; art; music; writing; health care; information technology; graphic design; urban farming; automotive technology; law enforcement; culinary technology; and more. 

Media are welcome to cover the following projects on June 15.

  • In a Law Enforcement Technology course, students will learn to recognize and document the essential facts at a death scene and learn to determine a person’s cause and manner of death. The death investigations will occur in the Homeland Security and Public Safety Building, Rooms 124 and 216.
  • Students will design and create projects using 3D printing in the Additive Manufacturing and Reverse Engineering Center in the Technology Center, Room A146.
  • Students will build and program a Jimu Competitive Series Champ Bot Robot in the Technology Center, Room A142-144.
  • Students will create styrofoam head projects using anything but hair in a Cosmetology in Business course in the Shircliff Humanities Center, Room D108.
