VINCENNES, Ind. - After a slow start, the Vincennes University men’s basketball team cruised to its 26th win of the season Wednesday night inside the P.E. Complex.

The No. 2 Trailblazers used a 22-4 run over a span of 5 minutes, 23 seconds in the first half to build a commanding 35-18 lead over visiting Lewis and Clark.

VU doubled up the visiting Trailblazers at the half, 51-25 en route to an 84-50 win, improving to 26-1 on the season.

Craig Porter finished one rebound shy of a triple double in the win. The freshman netted a game-high 22 points to go along with 10 assists, nine rebounds and four blocked shots.

The 22 points also marked a career high beating his previous high of 14 points which he had matched three times this season.

The guard now has 22 assists in the last two games.

Lony Francis, Jr . came a rebound shy of a double-double. The preseason All-American finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

As a team, VU held a 51-29 edge in rebounds.

The one downfall for the host Trailblazers was turnovers. Lewis and Clark forced the Trailblazers into 21 turnovers for the game.

However, the visitors could not cash in on the opportunities, committing 19 turnovers and shot just 27 percent (17-for-64) from the field.

Colton Sandage came off the bench to add 11 points - eight coming during the Trailblazers first-half run - to give VU three players in double figures.

George Dixon added seven points and 10 boards, while Kevin Kangu (8) and Jordan Lyons (7) combined for 15 points off the bench.

VU returns to the court Saturday for its home finale. The Trailblazers play host to Southwestern Illinois, part of a women’s and men’s doubleheader.

The women’s game starts at 5 p.m. with the men to follow.
