JASPER, Ind. - A Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) training program begins March 20 at the Vincennes University Jasper Campus. The deadline for registration is March 16. Classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 24, 6:30-9:30 p.m. (EST) and the cost is $895, which includes all books and materials.

A qualified medication aide is a certified nurse aide (CNA) who has completed additional training, annual in-service training, and demonstrated competency while dispensing and passing medications and or applying/administrating treatments under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.

The QMA program consists of 60 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of supervised practicum. The VU Jasper QMA program is approved by Indiana State Department of Health. The instructor and program director is Lori L. Dooley, RN.

Applicants must attend an orientation session where they will learn program and clinical requirements, student rules and policies, receive required forms, and take a basic reading and math test. The orientation will be held March 6, 6 p.m., at the VU Jasper Center for Technology, Innovation, and Manufacturing Building.

Registration will be accepted after orientation until the class is full. Payment in full or agency voucher is required at time of registration.
