Trailblazers baseball drops conference doubleheader

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball team enjoyed a brief lead before falling 6-2 in game one of a Mid-West Athletic Conference doubleheader against nationally ranked Parkland on Tuesday.
The Trailblazers scored twice in the top of the fourth inning and held a 2-1 lead.
Sophomore
Will Randell had two RBIs on one hit.
Parkland, No. 8 in the NJCAA Division II national poll, jumped back in front in the bottom of the fourth. The Cobras scored five runs in the inning.
VU recorded five hits as a team. Sophomore Walker Paris finished 2-for-3.
Sophomore pitcher Kavan Crowell struck out two, walked one and allowed eight hits and six runs in three innings.
Parkland won the second game 4-0 to sweep the four-game series.
Sophomore Tyler Estes doubled for the Trailblazers. Sophomore Isaiah Davis and freshman Ryan Robison also had hits for VU.
Freshman pitcher Noah Woodward gave up two hits and three runs in 3.2 innings.
VU’s overall record moved to 15-12 and the team is 4-4 in the MWAC.
The Trailblazers play a four-game conference series against Lincoln Land this weekend in Springfield, Illinois. The doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday begin at 2 p.m. EDT.
