Trailblazers fall 6-2 to Lincoln Trail

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team saw its eight-game win streak end with a 6-2 loss to Lincoln Trail at Jerry Blemker Field on Tuesday.

Lincoln Trail scored three runs in the third inning and added another in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.

The Trailblazers got on the scoreboard in the fifth. They tallied runs on sacrifice flies by freshmen Ryan Robison and Trent Weiss to make it 4-2.

The Statesmen added runs in the eighth and ninth innings.

VU’s offense produced seven hits.

Sophomore Treven Madden led the way. He hit 3-for-5 with a double and scored one run. Freshman Sean Becker collected two hits and scored a run.

Sophomore starter Jacob Cochrum suffered the loss. In four innings, he struck out three, walked one, allowed six hits. He gave up four earned runs.

Sophomore Luke Lancaster pitched 2.1 innings. He had three strikeouts and didn’t give up a run. He allowed one hit and walked one.

VU is off to an 11-7 start.

The Trailblazers return to the diamond on Wednesday. They play at Lincoln Trail at 4 p.m. EDT.
