Trailblazers maintain No. 2 ranking in national poll

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University men’s basketball team kept the No. 2 ranking for the fifth straight week in the national poll released Tuesday.
VU received 385 points and one first-place vote.
The Trailblazers owned a 27-1 overall record and a 17-1 District 16 record prior to Tuesday night’s game against Shawnee in Ullin, Illinois.
VU claimed the District 16 regular season championship with a 98-78 win over Southwestern Illinois on Saturday. It has won or shared seven District 16 regular season titles. VU has been ranked as high as No. 1 and has spent 11 consecutive weeks among the top four nationally.
Florida SouthWestern State continues to occupy the No. 1 ranking. It earned 397 points and 14 first-place votes. Coffeyville is ranked No. 3 with one first-place vote and 370 points. Ranger is ranked fourth with 352 points. John A. Logan moved up to spots to No. 5 with 323 points.
VU plays its regular-season finale against Wabash Valley on Friday night in Mount Carmel, Illinois. Wabash Valley entered Tuesday's poll at No. 25 after receiving votes last week.
