VU offers free high school equivalency testing
July 07, 2020
VINCENNES, Ind. — For the first time, Vincennes University is offering free testing services for students enrolled in Adult Basic Education programs statewide through December 31.
According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the Indiana HSE (High School Equivalency) is an alternative for earning a high school diploma. The HSE Diploma can be earned after completing a test based on five subject areas (math, reading, writing, science, and social studies). The skills taught and eventually tested on are at the same level as those of graduating high school seniors.
"Vincennes University is excited to eliminate one of the largest barriers for Adult Basic Education students,” noted VU Vice President of Workforce Development & Community Services David Tucker. “Because students will be able to take the HSE exam for free, they will be able to complete classes and earn their equivalency at virtually no cost.”
VU teaches ABE courses online, and in Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Lawrence, Martin, Orange, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, and Vanderburgh counties in Indiana.
