Vincennes University’s American Sign Language and Deaf Studies program unveils new
name

INDIANAPOLIS – The Vincennes University American Sign Language and Deaf Studies program is proud to announce its name has changed to American Sign Language & Deaf Studies - Interpreter Preparation.
This change reflects the University’s commitment to serving those seeking an associate’s degree or a Certificate of Program Completion or those going on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in ASL Interpreting.
Vincennes University is the only public university in the state of Indiana that offers an academic program American Sign Language & Deaf Studies - Interpreter Preparation in a fully immersive educational environment located on the campus of the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis. ASL faculty are Deaf, native signers who provide students with learning-centered instruction, application-to-practice to acquire ASL, and service learning opportunities to work with Deaf people in the community.

VINCENNES UNIVERSITY - Indiana’s First College
VU is state-supported with campuses in Vincennes and Jasper, the Aviation Technology Center and American Sign Language program in Indianapolis, Early College Career and Technical Education Centers, and additional sites such as the Gene Haas Training and Education Center in Lebanon, the Logistics Training and Education Center in Plainfield, and the Gibson County Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics in Fort Branch. A leader in developing Early Colleges statewide, VU also offers instruction at military sites throughout the nation.

Founded in 1801, VU is Indiana’s first college and is the only college in the nation founded by an individual who would later become President of the United States.
