VU Trustees meet at Jasper Campus
August 22, 2018
VINCENNES, Ind. - Brianna Jobe, Vincennes, was sworn in as the interim Student Trustee at the Vincennes University Board of Trustees meeting held today at the VU Jasper Campus. Jobe graduated from VU in May and has returned to pursue a degree in nursing. “I’m really excited about being on the Board and representing the students,” Jobe said.
Board Chair John Stachura congratulated the VU Golf Team on winning its third national title. Three team members earned NJCAA All-American honors and Coach Dennis Chattin was named Coach of the Year.
A report on marketing and enrollment was presented by Heidi Whitehead, director of Admissions, and Kristi Deetz, senior director of External Relations. “Like so many of our two-year peers across the country, we are seeing a decline in the incoming class for the fourth consecutive year,” reported Whitehead. “On the first day of class, the Vincennes Campus had 3,444 students registered - an 11 percent decline over last year. Jasper Campus has stabilized their incoming class but still reported a 13.1 percent decline with 469 students. American Sign Language has maintained their enrollment and the Aviation Technology Center is slightly up. Systemwide more than 6,000 students are enrolled. Those numbers will change drastically, as they do every year. We have many programs that continue to enroll students well into October. On VU’s official reporting date on Oct. 15, 2017, VU was serving 18,914 students systemwide.”
Chad Bebee, associate professor, institutional effectiveness, and Chris Gwaltney, general education coordinator, offered a report on VU’s ongoing General Education Assessment. Gwaltney noted that the goal of the assessment is to increase student learning and student success in University core curriculum classes.
