What is Project ASPIREE?

Project ASPIREE, which has been continuously assisting students in this area since 2002, is an academic enrichment program you can join at your school. It is part of the TRiO Programs, which are funded by the U.S. Department of Education. During the school year your Project ASPIREE advisor will visit your school and meet with participants either in groups or individually.

What happens in the Project ASPIREE meetings?

Your Project ASPIREE Advisors conduct workshops and activities that provide you with valuable information - but in fun ways. Not only do you learn about college, careers, study skills, and life skills, you improve your interpersonal skills by interacting with others.

How can Project ASPIREE help me?

Project ASPIREE can provide you with the tools you need for a successful education and career. We will show you how to develop good study habits you'll use for years to come. We can help you with the application process. We will assist you in finding sources of financial aid. We can help you match your interests and abilities with a career that's right for you!

How much is the cost of these services?

All services provided by Project ASPIREE are absolutely free.

If I participate in Project ASPIREE, do I have to attend Vincennes University?

While the Project ASPIREE staff is employed by Vincennes University, the program is not used as a recruitment tool for the university. Rather, participants receive assistance in applying to any college, university or other qualified institution of post-secondary education.

Is Project ASPIREE for academically gifted students?

No, Project ASPIREE is not specifically for academically gifted students. The students in our program have a wide range of abilities. Students are encouraged to be on a rigorous college prep curriculum.

Who is eligible?

Students in participating schools that are:

• U.S. Citizen and/or Permanent Resident
• First-generation college-bound student
• Submit a completed Project ASPIREE Application
• Between the ages of 11-27
• Meet income guidelines - Two-thirds of Project ASPIREE participants must meet the federal first generation/income guidelines

How can I join Project ASPIREE?

You must complete an application and attend one of the following schools: Barr-Reeve Middle/High School, Dugger Union Jr/Sr High School, Loogootee High School, Loogootee Middle School, North Central Jr/Sr High School, North Daviess Jr/Sr High School, Shoals High School, Shoals Middle School, or Washington Catholic.
