For the last twenty years, I have worked in the English language and in education in one way or another. I have worked in journalism, professional tutoring, not-for-profit volunteer education and management, high school level language arts, until finally reaching the destination on which my heart had always been set--teaching English at the college level. 

My hope is that we can learn from one another, that you will leave my course with new skills and talents you didn't know were waiting for you, and that we will have a great time together while we work through the semester. I promise you will learn lessons valuable to you, not just in writing essays and understanding the English language, but in thinking critically, solving problems, and addressing real world issues in meaningful and productive ways.

When I am not in class, you can find me hanging out with my family, working with one of the two local not-for-profit organizations I helped found, walking my dog, or doing any of a number of outdoor activities, from hiking to kayaking to swimming to jogging to bike riding. I love it all.
