VINCENNES, Ind. - Vincennes University's pioneering efforts in early college and dual credit education continue to expand with the launch of its Early College Online program beginning in the summer of 2025.

The program will offer high school students in grades 9 through 12 a flexible, affordable, and high-quality pathway to earning college credit while still enrolled in high school. VU's Early College Online program will empower students across Indiana, whether they attend public school, private school, or home school, to get a head start on their higher education journey. Students can complete coursework that transfers seamlessly to Indiana public colleges and universities and work toward earning the Indiana College Core (ICC) Certificate of Graduation, saving significant time and money.

The Indiana General Assembly passed a 2024 bill requiring all Indiana high schools to offer access to the ICC. However, not all schools, especially smaller ones, may not have enough credentialed teachers to teach dual credit courses for students to earn the ICC.

VU Associate Provost of K12 Programs and Partnerships Dr. Lori Pence said, "The Indiana College Core, a beacon of hope for Hoosier students, is designed to increase access to college credits and credentials of value. Access to the Indiana College Core shouldn't depend on a school's size or resources. Every student deserves a pathway to college success. VU Early College Online helps make that possible by partnering with schools and families statewide to offer rigorous, affordable college courses taught by VU faculty."

VU has long been at the forefront of innovative educational initiatives. It was the first university in Indiana to offer dual credit courses and implement the early college model in the state's high schools, with Ben Davis University High School in Indianapolis as the flagship.

Through the innovative VU Early College Online program, students can earn at least 30 college credits, all taught by experienced VU faculty through an online platform designed for flexibility and engagement. The cost-effective tuition of just $100 per credit hour and low-cost textbook options represent around 70% savings compared to a year at a traditional public university, making it more accessible to Indiana families while allowing students to invest more in their education and future.

For students planning to pursue a degree at VU or transfer to another higher education institution, Early College Online is a perfect choice. The program offers robust academic advising and a dedicated support team, which, in combination with other resources, creates rich learning experiences.

VU proudly continues to lead Indiana's efforts to expand college access and spur academic achievement.
